TARGET AUDIENCE: Obstetricians, Gynecologists, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists, Fellows, Residents, Nurse Practitioners, Perinatal Nurses, and Midwives.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION CREDIT STATEMENT: "The Wayne State University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Wayne State University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit (s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity."

ACOG COGNATE: The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists has assigned 5 cognate credits (Formal Learning) to this program.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: At the end of this program the participant will be able to:

  • Understand the global diabetes pandemic
  • Learn new definitions in diagnosis of gestational diabetes
  • Update management of preexisting diabetes in pregnancy
  • Understand insulin pump utilization in pregnancy
  • Discuss delivery complications related to diabetes in pregnancy
  • Review medical legal implications of managing diabetes in pregnancy
